Excellent article, and thank you for the work you do. One “bias-smell” I find with news time and time again is a reluctance to link to sources I could find with a simple search. “Mr. Politician said this awful thing” can usually be clarified with a simple search that those in the bubble won’t bother to do, and it’s obvious that the writer is exploiting that fact to keep its readers from piercing the bubble.
I make a point of both linking and quoting liberally, not just to provide the source but also to ensure that context is preserved. Another way both corporate and alternative media misrepresent things is by stripping a quote or a data point of its particular context, thereby changing its meaning.
That is one of many ways the news is perverted into propaganda. In all the many political silos that are scattered across the globe, it is how people are isolated and divided from each other.
Journalists can do better, but it seems most (on all sides) choose not to. A sad choice, in my view.
Politics have infiltrated every aspect of American society. Yet, the people are sick and tired of it all. They are tuning it all out. All the name calling. All the calls to deplatform this person or that person has jumped the shark.
I’m buying a dvd player and unboxing all my old dvd’s which thankfully I didn’t throw away. These streaming services are money pits of hate and violence. I don’t want to watch that crap. I’m perfectly happy just loading dvd’s and watching them over and over again. It’s far better than anything being offered to us today.
MSM, I stopped watching long ago. And now the podcasters are waring on my nerves because I see what they are doing. They are trying to divide people by demonizing their own MAGA voters. We expect this nonsense from the left… but we should not put up with it for one minute coming from the so called right.
Early in Covid I learned about the Trusted News Initiative and canceled my WSJ subscription because of it. True objective journalism is extinct except for substack

Thanks for the kind words.

Very sad choice. And it’s exactly that. A deliberate choice.
Well said, Peter! Truer words were never spoken. You’re the BEST.
Happy New Year, everyone!
