Strictly speaking, this isn't even nullification, at least not in the sense that Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and John Calhoun viewed the concept. They asserted that states had the power to declare federal laws unconstitutional.

California is not even attempting a Constitutional argument. They are simply refusing to comply with federal law, and daring President Trump to do something about it.

It's not nullification, but simple anarchy and legal nihilism. California's stance is they only have to comply when they want to.

There's only one way this ends, and that's badly for California.

It's interesting that their legislature is concerned with following a California law but not a Federal one. If Newscom had things under control, he would have cleared the streets and put in a curfew. I know they think the corrupt judges are on their side but I don't think they will win this particular battle.

Once again, Democrats are driving a debate over states rights vs federal authority.

They are proceeding in an amazingly foolish manner, because when the debate has devolved into violence in the past, states rights has always lost.

The Democrats are sure to lose this time as well. No matter what the courts rule on immigration, the courts would be suicidal to rule in favor of anarchic violence and insurrection. The courts will rule in favor of restoring order if tasked to do so, if only out of self preservation.

By the time order is restored, how many Americans are going to be interested in litigating what process illegal aliens are due?

In 2020 the Democrats promised "normalcy" and then delivered lunacy.

Now they are doubling down on lunacy.

How do they see this ending well for them?

They think it's just a messaging issue.

Im just estimating from the photos and videos, but these LA riots seem much smaller and less destructive than the BLM ones from a few years ago. Calling this an insurrection is a bit of a stretch. People forget just how large thr scale of LA is, something like this can happen on a few streets while 95% of LA county is unaffected, not to mention Orange and Ventura counties. BLM was insane, homeless camps with daily fires, entire blocks of restaurants, bars, and clubs permanently closed, glass and garbage edge to edge on many streets, etc.

Good for you, Peter, for reporting and archiving the truth! I so appreciate how you have consistently counteracted a false narrative. And I am so happy to hear that Trump’s policy is “zero tolerance” - this is what we voted for!

I read Kristi Noem’s book last month (“No Going Back”, 2024). As a congressman and as governor, she liked to ride her motorcycle (which I inferred was a Harley) around South Dakota to talk with her constituents at gas stations, roadside diners, gun shops, and other ordinary places. She told a story of the time that President Trump came to the Mount Rushmore monument for a Fourth of July celebration. This was a very big event for her state, and she was concerned about violent, anti-Trump protesters marring the event. So, unofficially, she got the word out to the states’s bikers to “keep an eye out for protesters”. There was no trouble at the event.

So, I have some confidence in her ability at the DHS. I don’t think she will put up with any Woke nonsense.

By the way, you’d never guess to look at her, but Kristi Noem is 54 and has three grandchildren!

Which makes the progressives' effort to belittle her by calling her ICE Barbie a perverse compliment!

Its not just LA, Peter. Its in NYC and other cities in the US as well. If not over immigration it's support for HAMAS in Gaza. Pick your favorite current Progressive irritant to fuel the "outrage".

The Progressive Elite Democrats embrace violence to promote thier desire to use force (or lack of it) to control the rest of us. Since they are not in power at the Federal level, they resort to inaction and obstruction at lower levels, hoping to return to power soon.

As I've stated FAFO. The actions of the Democrats are alienating reasonable, prudent people. They are experiencing declining support in most demographic categories.

Los Angeles is not the only place where riots are happening, as similar uprisings are being reported in New York City as well.

Rightly or wrongly, the California Insurrection is the one capturing the most attention on social media.

However, regardless of levels of attention, these are all riots seeking to block and frustrate legitimate law enforcement and immigration enforcement. Calling all of them insurrection is becoming increasingly appropriate.

Unlike J6, this is a real insurrection. This is a real attack on the rule of law, no matter what corporate media and the trigglypuffs might say otherwise.

Here in Australia they are calling a protest about immigration.

That is how censored this country is.

The impulse of governments everywhere to suppress the truth when it contradicts their preferred narrative is why it's important to put these images out there, and to archive their sources.

People are rioting, not protesting. They are vandalizing and destroying property, they are blocking traffic, they are taking control of LA streets.

This is violent behavior. The longer it continues, the more it becomes insurrectionist behavior.
