Even handing down death sentences to protesters does not appear to be dissuading Iranians from taking to the streets in defiance of the mullahs in Tehran.
Given some of the barbarities attributed to the Islamic Republic, it's hard to see how any government would be much worse than the mullahs and their theocratic Vilayat-e Faqih (ولایت فقیه), or Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist.
One thing which may be holding the Iranians back from completing their revolution is that there may not yet be a group within the protesters driving for a specific form of post-Islamic Republic government. Or, rather, there are several groups, none which dominates the movement as of yet (there are even movements to bring back the monarchy, as well has the Pahlevi dynasty itself).
Wouldn't it be great for them to get the government they are hoping for? Just like we wish we could have one.
