Another day, another TASS article about Russia surrendering Kherson.
This latest item is the retelling of a story in Italian media outlet La Reppublica regarding Washington's interest in seeing talks restart between Kyiv and Moscow should Ukraine retake its provincial capital of Kherson.
According to the publication, it is no coincidence that Washington and NATO confirmed the sending of a batch of air defense missiles against drones to Kyiv. The main premise is that the return of Kherson, a strategic goal in terms of access to the sea and control of water resources, can change the course of the conflict, and after its conquest, negotiations can be started from a position of strength. According to the newspaper, the White House first began to suggest such a specific scenario.
While TASS is doing little more than repeating what was reported elsewhere, the question remains: Why is TASS repeatedly implying that Kherson is about to fall? Is Putin preparing the Russian people for an inevitable loss of the city?
Something is about to happen there.
Is Russia Anticipating The Loss Of Kherson?
"On 30 September 2022, Russia, amid an ongoing invasion of Ukraine, unilaterally declared its annexation of four Ukrainian oblasts – Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. The four annexed regions make up about 15% (90,000 sq km) of Ukraine's territory, and none of them were fully under Russian control at the time. The annexation is the largest in Europe since World War II."

Didn't both Putin and Russian spokesmen say Russia would use tactical nukes to defend their territory? The fact that Kherson has been part of Russia for less than 60 days is irrelevant.
