I think that this backfired for CNN -- because what it did -- was make the "alternative news" reporters (they're obviously trying to discredit) -- look more relatable.
This is always the problem for the left. They go into a situation with the idea that most people think like they do -- but they don't. And so, they try to humiliate people, and instead they prop them up -- because when people see them -- they see normal people!
Everything with the left is nudging, not logic, but nudging and manipulation. Trying to convince, or guilt, people into an alternate reality.
Credentialism, as displayed at the end of the video -- is also dying.
Professionals are not "professional" -- when they lie constantly. Sorry, we're done with "professionals" and "experts." Harvard had a completely illegitimate president -- that plagiarized, this is documented.
I'm sick of it, and slowly but surely everyone else is becoming sick of it.
I don't think there's any question that this hit piece backfired, and that was obvious when the alternative media journalists were frank and upfront about where they stood. Natalie Winters, the one Donnie tried to dismiss by asking her if she considered herself a journalist, said it best: they wear their bias on their sleeve.
You know where they stand. You know their point of view. Maybe you agree with it and maybe you don't.
Natalie Winters co-hosts War Room with Steve Bannon. Personally, I think Bannon is a loudmouth and an idiot. I don't think Trump booted him from the West Wing in his first term fast enough. But I know where Bannon stands on issues, and Natalie Winters tells people where she stands on issues. She celebrated the Liberation Day tariffs because she genuinely sees them as an example of Donald Trump putting the interests of working-class Americans first.
Whether the tariffs end up serving Americans' interests is an open question, but I can understand her perspective, and I can understand why she would frame the tariffs as "good news", just like I can understand why Donnie was appalled at them because they threaten to disrupt the status quo (which clearly does NOT serve Americans interests).
The alternative media journalists ARE more relatable because they are more open and more honest about their bias. That alone invites more relating, and that goes a long way in building credibility and trust.
Which makes them far better journalists than Donnie O' Sullivan will ever be.
“By sowing distrust in new media journalism, Donnie is seeking to build trust in corporate media journalism.” What a fool - does he think people can’t see through obvious weasel moves?
I haven’t seen a CNN broadcast in at least twenty-five years. Even before corporate media became obviously biased in favor of the Left, they became pointless as their newscasts became fluffier. Watching the “News” became a waste of time.
When I was a kid, everybody sat down to seriously pay attention to the nightly newscasts. If you let your attention stray, you’d miss important bits of information. Then, gradually, the News became fluffier “infotainment”, to the point that there was maybe seven minutes of worthwhile information in a half-hour broadcast. Consequently, they lost the viewers. People can get information more efficiently today in dozens of ways, and, with new media, in many better ways.
Peter, you have consistently earned your readers’ attention and respect by adhering to the facts, evidence, and data. I adore you for it. You work long hours to bring us factual, reliable, and level-headed information and analysis. Your analysis is truly top-notch, by a large number of criteria - better than anyone else I read. I have encouraged you to apply your talents in ways that would bring you more money - say, as a data analyst on Wall Street - but I get it, you want to be your own man, accountable only to the Truth. Of course, this makes me admire you even more. You are a priceless gem of a man, Peter! I hope can persevere in being You.
I also haven’t watched any evening news in at least 30 years.
Watching the evening national news followed by local news was a thing back then but I also distinctly remember when I said the news is nothing more than melodrama in between the many commercials.
There's a line in the Don Williams song "Good Old Boys Like Me": "but I was smarter than most, and I could choose/ Learned to talk like the man on the six o'clock news."
Who can envision young people today wanting to talk like Sean Hannity, or Rachel Maddow? Who wants to sound like Jesse Waters, or Lester Holt, or Kristen Welker?
And those are the articulate ones. Can you imagine young people wanting to embrace the hateful vitriol of Joy Reid?
Which demonstrates the cultural decline in the news. News presenters once aspired to be seen as transmitters of information. Today they are performers in their own infotainment reality shows.
When I do my podcasts I am attempting to transmit information. If someone said I sounded like Walter Cronkite or John Chancellor I would take it as a great compliment.
I admire your commitment to facts, something that has become extinct in MSM; biased narrative driven propaganda only.
I don’t have time to read everything I would like but you are my favorite and I try to read all of your work. I also enjoy your podcasts! Thank you! 🙏🏻
I am always honored to know that I have my readers' trust. Honored and gratified.
I make a point of saying that I should not be trusted to underscore the fact that we're all human, we're all going to make mistakes, and that even the best of us can get things way wrong. It's always in people's best interest to vet information, verify sources, and to make sure that they're getting accurate information.
Something is never true because I say it is. It's only true when the data says that it is.
The difference between you and many others is that you admit when you’re wrong, you actively encourage people to prove that you’re wrong, and you don’t let people get away with playing manipulative games with you. Anyone trying to win an argument with Peter Nayland Kust had better be prepared with current facts and rigorous reasoning. You adhere to high standards and you expect an opponent to also comply with the highest standards of debate. If they don’t, they are sent packing with their tails between their legs, whimpering from the humbling you dish out to those who try to get away with incompetence, malice, and manipulation. Bravo, Peter!
I’d love to hear you debate anyone in the corporate media. You would demolish them!
In corporate media maybe Martha Raddatz would be tolerable in a debate. Someone like Kristin Welker would just be annoying.
The person I would enjoy debating would be Ben Shapiro. He's an arrogant narcissist on a good day, but he'd make me bring my A game to the debate. On the debate stage he'd be a worthy adversary.

Great post!
I don't follow any MSM.
I have seen Donnie twice in the last couple of weeks:
With Taylor Lorenz, and I swear, he looked smitten.
Now today, and he was demolished!
This is the best CNN's got?
Now you know why I gave up MSM 10 years ago...
As always, excellent analysis!
Thanks!
Is reliance on propaganda an admission that the facts do not support one's narrative or agenda?
That is a reasonable inference. If the facts supported the narrative there would be no reason to use propaganda.
