This ruling restored my sinking hope!

So, Congress is going to have to formally prove that there was an insurrection, in order to sink Trump. If they go down that road, Congressman Higgins’ findings of the involvement of 200+ FBI agents on J6 will come out in court, plus the other damning evidence of entrapment, etc. Peter, can you see a series of plausible legal steps by which the J6 defendants could have their sentences reduced or overturned? The severity of their punishment was based upon an implied existence of ‘insurrection’ (even though none of them have actually been charged with insurrection). If it is legally proved that there was, in fact, no insurrection, is there some vindication for them?

Raskin's proposed bill is from what he's described simply a bill of attainder. In his view there is no reason to prove it, just declare Donald Trump an insurrectionist and remove him from the ballot.

Which means the Democrats are not actually reading the ruling or thinking through the whole insurrection narrative. There only thought seems to be to stop Trump, the law be damned.

The irony of this is it is their hatred of him that fuels his support among independents like me. If they had left him alone his base would be much smaller.

Exactly! I was never a big Trump fan either, but the Left’s determination to destroy the Rule of Law in this country has galvanized libertarian-minded people like you and me to unite behind a plausible pathway back to founding principles, in this case via Trump. The Left is going to be surprised at just how many people they have ticked off!

I'm not sure how plausible a pathway back to the founding principles of this country Donald Trump represents. But he's a far better option than Dementia Joe, or whomever takes his place at the Democrats convention.

Yup, we’ll take the best option we have. I’m off now to cast my vote in the primary, and you can bet it will not be for Nikki or Biden!
