And, unemployment may be getting even worse. I’m starting to see articles such as this one from the AP, announcing a layoff of 9,000 at Microsoft, on top of the 6,000 who were laid off in May:

President Trump has got to turn this around quickly!

To be clear, President Trump did not cause the jobs recession, and it would be an extravagant overreach to infer that his policies have made the jobs recession palpably worse.

Still, rising joblessness is a political problem for any US President, and people will gauge the success of his presidency in part by how well he addresses this problem.

The reality is that no President can order jobs into existence. Not even authoritarian leaders can do that.

What the President can do is pursue economic policies which get government put of the way of private enterprise, which foster an economic climate of innovation, and which do not penalize workers while incentivizing sloth. Trade policy in particular is one area where a President can have profound economic impact.

To his credit, President Trump is engaged in all these aspects of his Presidency,. We see that with the effort he has made to secure passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill.

What we are waiting to see are the results of his efforts.

Oh, I agree! But, “it would be an extravagant overreach to infer that his policies have made the jobs recession palpably worse.” This is exactly what the left-leaning corporate media will infer - repeatedly, at every opportunity. This, in turn, will have the effect of making business across the land hesitant to hire. Which will enable the media to crow that they were right, and it’s all Trump’s fault. Our President needs to tackle this jobs problem before corporate media makes it worse!

D. Trump is now busy with world politics and wars - the US American people are well taken care of in his opinion. Drugs and other crime is a minor matter. The world power USA has reached the “Point of NO Return”!!!

The President is expected to juggle multiple priorities at the same time, and we should acknowledge that President Trump is engaged in all dimensions of his Presidency.

Will he be successful in the end? It is possible. If he secures enough good trade deals he may contribute considerably to the end of the jobs recession.

President Trump did not cause the jobs recession. It is not solely on him to end the jobs recession.

It remains to be seen whether he will make the jobs recession better or worse.

In fairness, homelessness has been rising for a few years now. That is a societal crisis which is only partially impacted by employment and economic data.
