Excellent reveal as always. Your reason is irrefutable. This should be required reading.

Too bad Congress can't unite on much of anything else. How about stopping all this absurd war business.

DrDweeb's avatar

Which war? I didn't notice any declaration of war. How did I miss that?

Peter, you reference costs rising from $1.9 million to $2.5 million. Everything I have read is that these amounts are billions, not millions.

BTW, I’ve been in the current Federal Reserve Building, including the main Board Room. It’s really neat, steeped in history, but doesn’t seem real functional. Still not enough to justify the Fed going through this type of construction project for this amount ‘in the dark of night’. At best, this has been poorly handled by Powell.

The comical thing is that if Powell had padded the budget to $2.5 billion in the first place, no one would probably have noticed.

It's the cost overruns that stand out.

Peter Nayland Kust's avatar

It is billions and not millions. Thanks for catching that!

Let me see if I have those right: a member of a Legislative Branch committee exercising the oversight function via routine testimony of the head an "independent" entity charged with management of the US monetary system, thus in essence the entire US economy, noted some discrepancy in said testimony, made under oath, so made a referral to the Executive Branch's Department of Justice to determine what enforcement, if any, is required, and for said Legislative Branch member to have done and the Executive Branch department to act thereon is wrong? Why does the head of an "independent" entity appear to begin with? I swear we are living the reality of the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil monkeys.

You have succinctly captured the madness of the moment.

Deeply cutting and eloquent, Peter. Thank you.

I started reading this thinking, man, the smell of fear in the air of D.C. must be heavy right now. The Swamp critters all have something to hide, something that would destroy them if uncovered. The kickbacks, grift, and outright bribes from NGOs and other mechanisms must be extreme.

By the end of your article I had concluded that it’s even worse than I thought. I hope the fraud investigations here in MN domino into fraud investigations throughout government. Let the chips fall where they may!

Something has the DC Swamp spooked, and they are afraid of Donald Trump looking too closely at the man behind the curtain.

How many bodies are buried behind that curtain?

Peter Nayland Kust's avatar

Quite a lot, apparently.

Time to unbury them.

From your excellent article: "We must note also that, according to the Federal Reserve’s website, one of the primary functions of the Federal Reserve is that it “promotes the stability of the financial system….” Acting specifically to disrupt financial markets is something the Federal Reserve very explicitly should not be doing—and yet that is exactly what Powell did."

What a joke... The Federal Reserve has 'absolute zero' levels of legitimacy:

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered.... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies...." -Thomas Jefferson

Since its spurious inception in 1913, the "price stability" mandated FED has looted 98+% of the US dollar's value. This means impoverishing innocent children. This means elder widows. This means you.

Money creation belongs to We the People, not to a private bank masquerading around as a government agency (the word 'Federal' is used to trick us), that first counterfeits and then lends that money to us at interest to be repaid to them while inflating away (leaching) its value.

"Permit me to issue the currency of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws." -Rothschild

Rothschild said this because he who controls the money spigot, controls the root of all evil, and as such the minds of most men.
