What scares me is the lunatics seem to be in charge of all the asylum.
WW1 and WW2 destroyed practically every scrap of wealth Europe and Japan had accumulated. This push for war in the Middle East could easily be even more destructive.
Seems there is vast array of weapons at all players’ disposals. And thanks to Joe’s treasonous pullout in Afghanistan some previously under equipped militias have surprisingly parlous potential.
Intriguingly, the most impactful weapons are not the missiles, but the drones. What we're seeing in these attacks on US bases in the Middle East is similar to the experience Russia is having with drones in Ukraine -- these small-payload loitering munitions are rewriting the rules of aerial warfare in-theater.
“Sleepwalking into World War 3” is a really good way to characterize this, Peter. I get the sense that no one but the CIA knows what’s actually going on, which factions are involved, or what the Plan is. Unsettling, to say the least.
Amongst all the geopolitical speculations, one I’ve heard is that China is supporting Iran in this mess. The argument is that if the US has its hands full with the Mideast, China can dominate the Pacific, and maybe attack Taiwan. In your previous columns, you have given good reasons why China does not have the capability to do this. But what is your assessment now? Would serious escalation of US involvement in the Mideast be enough to tip the scale for China all the way to success against Taiwan? Do you suspect that this is China’s overt plan?
As a matter of simple logistics, it would take a lot more than the US Pacific fleet to prevent an invasion of Taiwan. Probably the best strategy for the US to impede an invasion would be to put a few Virginia class fast attack subs in the Taiwan Strait and sink any vessels heading from China to the island--and even that would probably only slow an invasion down.
However, a small contingent of destroyers (which duty could easily be shared with India) could blockade the Malacca Strait and cut off 75% of China's oil imports. The Malacca Strait is too far to be impacted by Chinese hypersonic missiles, which means China's lack of a blue water navy is lethal for any war effort they might undertake. Cut off 75% of their oil imports and the lights go off in 3-6 months and in 6-12 months their industrial plant shuts down.
China has no power projection capacity able to reach the Malacca Strait, which means it has no capacity to win a naval confrontation with the US, no matter what happens in the Middle East.
See, once again you choose out the most pertinent and important aspects of a topic from which to draw a logical - and in this case, reassuring - conclusion. Peter, your mind is a ROCK STAR.
World war 3 hoax will be to bring on the great reset, ruin the petro dollar, green agenda to benefit China, steal elections, etc.
Just like the Ukraine/Russia war… a bomb a day then daily photo ops for the media. Fear. Fear. Fear. All to manipulate 65% of the population who are emotional decision makers and believe everything they are told.
I can’t take any of this seriously anymore when we still rely mostly on China for our medications. There is no national security of certain industries. But they sell us war? Fear? It’s not national security. It’s to bring on society/great reset changes.
We were captured November 3, 2020. Not sure how we get out of this. All I know is that I don’t believe a darn thing anymore.
I hear you, RU. I was just having lunch with a friend, and he was ranting about how you can’t believe anything at all that is in the mainstream media. All the more reason to appreciate Substackers like Peter, who give us facts such as the pricing response in the oil markets!
Great read.
Pretty clear to me our country is being run by bumbling maniacs.

Cheap too.

I bow repeatedly at your feet.
