One interesting development in the bombing on the Russia-Crimea (Kerch) Bridge: Apparently, the owner of the truck lived in Krasnodar Oblast, a Russian district on the other side of the bridge from Crimea.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to create a government commission in connection with the emergency on the Crimean bridge. He received reports from Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov and Transport Ministry Vitaly Savelyev, as well as heads of law enforcement agencies.
On behalf of Putin, a government commission headed by Khusnullin was created. It, as previously reported, will also include the heads of the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea, representatives of the National Guard, the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Putin also signed a decree on strengthening protection measures for the Crimean bridge, an energy bridge and a gas pipeline from the Krasnodar Territory to Crimea.
The SC opened a case on the fact of the incident. Under what article, the department has not yet specified.
The owner of the blown up truck has been identified; he is a resident of the Krasnodar Territory. Investigations are underway at his place of residence.
The prosecutor's office of the Crimea took the course of clarifying the circumstances of the incident under special control. The prosecutor of the republic Oleg Kamshilov arrived at the bridge.
Apparently, the driver was one Mahir Yusubov, uncle of the truck’s owner Samir Yusubov. The Yusobovs are ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Krasnodar Oblast
An Azerbaijani, 51-year-old Mahir Yusubov, was driving a truck that exploded on the Crimean bridge on Saturday morning. The truck itself is registered to his nephew Samir Yusubov.
They are residents of the Krasnodar oblast of Russia and have been engaged in cargo transportation for a long time. As a result of the explosion, Mahir Yusubov died as a result of the explosion.
That would seem to make the bridge attack a true terrorist action, but one of Azerbaijani origin rather than Ukrainian. While prevailing sentiment still holds Ukraine responsible for the attack—a not unusual outlook given the war—the truth about the attack is now considerably more complex.
But play out the full scenario: Azerbaijani terrorists timed a truck bomb attack on the Kerch Bridge to coincide with a train carrying petroleum fuels, in a theater of operations where Ukrainians would have the best intelligence assets.
Regardless of who helped whom, the potentials for a combined terrorist action are quite remarkable.
If I understand correctly, Russia supports Armenia? Which would make this plausible.
Russia does support Armenia.
