I'm not sure MIC mendacity can explain the global financial meltdown taking place, but it is not hard to fathom them playing a role certainly in US and European market declines.
It is rather amazing how they have come back from the early 90s "peace dividend" to an even greater control of, well, if you include the INTEL Agencies, well, everything!
The peace dividend was never more than a quaint sound bite. The ones who talked most about it were the same ones most keen on endless and illegal foreign wars.
