Have you anything that could address compensation difficulties for beneficiaries of Social Security Retirement Survivors and Disability Insurance? And other beneficiary programs such as those administered by the Veterans Benefits Administration? The annual cost of living adjustment depends on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Office Workers (CPI-W) in the month of October in the year preceding the adjustment. There apparently is a CPI for the Elderly which is not the figure utilized for the COLA. In addition, Obama talked about putting the COLA on chained CPI, which was for some reason rejected. Those of us on fixed incomes tend to feel price changes more keenly.

I have not focused specifically on COLA, but the crux of the issue is the propriety of the COLA adjustment factor with respect to prevailing inflation levels.

I'd have to crunch some numbers to say something meaningful on the topic, so give me a few days to talk about that?
