The refinery and associated petrochemical industries at Asaluyeh are considered one of the most important economic infrastructures in Iran and a main source of revenue for the government. But the Council of Oil Contract Workers had warned the government last week they would go on strike if security forces continued suppressing the protests.
"We will stop working and join the people if you continue killing and arresting people in their protest against compulsory hijab," the council said in a statement.
"We, the workers of the oil projects, in unison with people in Iran, once again declare our anger and hatred towards the murder of Mahsa Amini at the hands of the morality police. We support the people's fight against organized crimes against women, and growing poverty," it added.
The growing protests in southern Iran came as gunfire continued early Monday in the city Sanandaj, the capital of Iran’s Kurdistan province, and the village of Salas Babajani near the border with Iraq, according to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a Kurdish human-rights group.
The organization posted footage showing smoke rising in Sanandaj and what sounded like rapid rifle fire.
With protesters shouting that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni “is done”, how long will it take before these protests threaten Iran’s ruling ayatollahs? Can this escalate to where Khameni really is “done”?
The regime may not be in danger of falling just yet, but it is getting closer and closer to that cliff’s edge.
Most unlikely. The Deep State does not have anywhere close to the assets in Iran needed to organize such an undertaking.
If they did the Iranians would never have made the progress with uranium enrichment that they have, and the reactor at Bushehr would have mysteriously blown up ages ago.
If they did the Green Revolution would have succeeded in 2009 and the mullahs would have been dispatched to the dustbin of history.
It probably is orchestrated, and if any of the young girls murdered were part of this manipulation, then eternal damnation on the killers of them or others.
Sort of like the sniper killings in the Ukrainian 'coup' which apparently was the only thing the US had anything to do with out of the whole 'coup.'
Seems very orchestrated to me.
Color revolution anyone? USG sponsored would be the most likely.
