One hardly needs to be a military expert to understand why Russia would be planning a major offensive push into Ukraine in the very near future—they need to do “something” to break the stalemate.
The Ukrainian governor of the mainly Russian-occupied Luhansk province in the east of the country warned Monday that Russia is moving troops into eastern Ukraine ahead of its anticipated action, saying “we are seeing more and more (Russian) reserves being deployed in our direction, we are seeing more equipment being brought in.”
“They bring ammunition that is used differently than before - it is not round-the-clock shelling anymore. They are slowly starting to save, getting ready for a full-scale offensive,” Governor Serhiy Haidai told Ukrainian television.
Well, that General Winter is a badass who has served Russia effectively in the past.
Can't use him if he doesn't show up, though.
BTW - lamestream talking heads keep referring to an 'expected Spring offensive' by the Russians - as if they would have reason to wait if the ground was frozen properly!?
Maybe it's so when the winter offensive happens they can say it was 'unexpected'? Kind of like those daily 'unexpected' post-vax deaths, I suppose...
Russia is expected to mount a major offensive as early as this weekend.
Which makes the weather over the next ten days extremely important. If the ground is not frozen that offensive could get literally bogged down in the swampy mud that is eastern Ukraine in late winter and early spring.
