In theory that might work, although I'm not sure how workable the concept is in reality.
DMZ arrangements make sense between two hostile parties as a way to prevent "accidents" from causing renewed warfare.
That isn't the case with the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has even tried to rope Oman--the Arab state on the other side of the Strait--into its toll scheme.
However, one way or another Iran is going to have to be put in a position where it cannot menace international shipping in the Strait, or else the entire global maritime trading order gets a massive rework that won't serve anyone very well.
Sir, This is the only place I trust and can learn. I have sadly taken until middle-age to even try as I spent my younger years raising men. No regrets, but I very much appreciate your work.
The only way this ends is establishing some sort of DMZ on the Iranian side of the strait.

Thank you very much for the high praise and kind words. I am honored to have earned your trust. I hope to always be deserving of it.
