The government is in a bind. If they give in, they've lost control. If they don't give in, things will escalate until the whole country is shut down. They're hoping they can regain control without a shutdown. I think the truckers see that if they back down, they will never live in a free country.

Both sides have ample reason not to yield, and both sides know if one side doesn't yield there will be blood.

The moment for peaceful resolution is slipping away.

They are going to ramp up their efforts to make this thing turn violent.

Is that turning out "well"? No.

But they are painting themselves into a corner, and the world is watching. They desperately need to rationalize their authoritarianism.

And unlike China, they have no ability to memory hole the violence when it comes. The CCP made China "forget" about Tienanmen Square.

That will not happen with Rideau Centre.

Folks here aren't forgetting January 6 or Ashley Babbitt. Folks won't forget Ottawa either.
