Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa should be in the top 5 on your list.
South Africa enjoys some of the strictest gun ownership legislation in the world. However, that hasn’t stopped the death of thousands of innocents at the hands of murderers. Of course all the law abiding citizens have had their weapons taken from them; so it’s open season on unarmed citizens in South Africa. Sadly, I notice that both Durban and Cape Town did make your list.
The list was independently developed and then reported by Statista. I merely drilled into gun laws for the country at the top of the list, which just happened to be Mexico.
However, we should not presume that gun violence (or any violence) is limited to just these cities. As you rightly point out, many countries have problems with gun violence, and strict gun laws do not appear to present any barrier to violence anywhere.
“Because they are all ultimately funded via both direct and indirect theft [taxes], and counterfeiting [central bank monopolies], all governments are essentially, at their very cores, 100% corrupt criminal scams which cannot be “reformed”or “improved”,simply because of their innate criminal nature.”

"You'll be, going loco, down in Acapulco, if you stay too long..." - so go figure about permanent residents...?!
