I've not dwelt on that aspect of the debate recently, but that is an important point. Several studies and analyses of crime statistics have shown a positive correlation between gun ownership and crime reduction.
There is good evidence for the proposition that an armed society is a polite society.
Excellent and brave - I plan to read the earlier articles you wrote and linked later. But wanted to applaud you.
Also the evil at work here in particular wants to distract from real solutions of Faith and Family that are under attack and have been by our very leaders for generations. But said evil is now becoming evident almost daily by the decisions made by all institutions esp our Churches.
The devil is real and at work
We need to wake up and fight as if our lives and our families are at stake.
An important part of confronting the fundamental immorality of all violence is recognizing the difference between the morality of something and the legality of something. Legality is a far lower threshold of permissibility, and a great many behaviors are legal and yet remain unequivocally immoral.
We need to return that distinction back to public debate about what sort of behaviors we wish to either encourage or discourage, as that distinction not only frames the roles of morality and law within society, but compels us to sharpen our thoughts on what is or should be either moral or immoral.
We especially need to demand that elected officials raise their public utterances to at least that standard of excellence. We elect them and our tax dollars pay their salaries--surely we deserve at least that much respect from them.
Mr. Kust -- yes agree 100%; but unfortunately to me it seems people who think and expect what you describe are sooooooooooo far apart from our leaders, and that the momentum and tide of history are flowing strongly and for quite some time fast against us. Our side is getting diminished by the day it seems, and while current events (for the past handful of years) can serve as wake up moments, the demons are likely in control of essentially every institution there is (can we name one that doesn't seem captured?) -- so, we either need to reclaim those or create new ones. Believing in the promises He has made I trust in His plan and that ultimately His justice will be served -- I am coming to the humble realization it likely will happen well after my time on earth, but I am content to fight and run the race to the end. What can us little folk do to even get in the game?
For myself, I strive to elevate the debate however I can. I look to bring facts and evidence --empirical data as well as the textual realities of the law--to bear, and encourage others to do likewise. I eschew narratives that I cannot support with an array of evidences, and I hope to inspire others to do likewise.
If we raise the quality of our own debate, we at least have a chance of raising the quality of the debate of others. If we can accomplish just that much, I believe that would be a significant enhancement over the status quo.
Despite such tragedies, a result not of weapons but of mental instability and hate, if those attempting to burn the constitution need to realize something.
If A2 is damaged, there will be such government control that there will be no communities left to be subject to whatever harms. Derailments, pollution, destroying economies and food factories and energy infrastructure in favour of 5G towers is all part of the poisoning of north america by You know Who by You know What.
People don’t realize that guns actually save lives. Very few people write about that.
