Could it be perhaps that Russia and China might actually be showing some restraint when it comes to starting WWIII. Whereas the neocons in this country seem to be chomping at the bit to get things going, such as idiots like Lindsey Graham saying "Game on"!

Great work, Peter! Here the world is worried about an Islamic jihad, encompassing dozens of countries, and you show us that most so-called “allies” of Iran aren’t coughing up any more support than words like “deeply concerning”. Pathetic!

There is chatter on Substack Notes that the elite of Iran are fleeing the country. The airports - closed to ordinary citizens of Iran - are reportedly packed with the regime’s upper crust running away. Which maybe goes to show that this war is more about social classes than anything else. The poor get bombed, the elite escape to safety. If the world is lucky, maybe the long-standing regime running Iran will now be usurped by pro-democracy factions, and hostilities will end. Let’s hope!

One of the realities that was brought home by the war in Ukraine as well as Israel's war against Hamas is being brought home against Iran.

Talk is always going to be cheap. In any conflict or dispute, the question is always going to boil down to "what are you prepared to DO?"

For Iran's "allies", the answer is apparently "nothing".

Another takeaway is that - apparently - no Sunni is willing to fight for the Shi’ites. Even in the modern world, where they’ll all go to party with prostitutes in Dubai, the ancient hatred of Sunni against Shi’ite still stands. They don’t like each other any more than they like Israel.

I'm sure there is more than a little of that as well.

However, Hezbollah and Katib Hezbollah are both Shi'ite militias. Hamas was the lone Sunni standout in Iran's Axis of Resistance.

Yes. I was thinking of the Saudis, Pakistanis, Iraqis, and all of the other Sunni Moslem countries that did not rush to aid an Islamic brother. Americans don’t grasp how “tribal” most of the world is. Peoples in Africa, Asia, heck, even in Scotland adhere to loyalties to their Clan, well before loyalties to a ruling regime.

I would not be surprised if those who have the ability to flee Iran are taking the opportunity to do so.

For Iran, the world has gotten quite a bit more lonely in the past 48 hours.
