Thanks for this. I agree with you - all the important economic data/statistics are no doubt manipulated to hide the truth. Government officials have done the exact same thing with all the important Covid data and metrics.
I think CPI or "real inflation" plus "unemployment" and GDP are all rigged/manipulated - and have been for many years.
In a future article you might take a deep dive into the "unemployment" numbers. (You might have already done this). I think they rig the unemployment percentages by not including people who have allegedly "dropped out of the labor force." I think real unemployment is probably something like 20 percent of the adult population if not more.
The "not in labor force" cohort has not factored into the unemployment rate for something like 25 years (I forget the exact year but it was a budget compromise between Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich).
I've done a few write-ups of the BLS Employment Situation Summary -- just look for the articles mentioning "Lou Costello Labor Math"!

There are indications of a certain amount of goal-seeking in the headline stats.
My sense is that the underlying numbers are less biased that way, although their accuracy must always be questioned.
