I think one big problem facing the Democrats if Joe Biden exits would be the looming cloud over any other Democratic nominee who would simultaneously have to battle being better than Trump but also better than Biden. At the point that any nominee comes forward it will be an even bigger uphill battle, and being this close to the actual election I don't see how anyone could gain momentum in such a short time.
Running on a platform that says "I'm not Trump OR Biden" isn't going to cut it this late in the game I feel.
I tend to agree. Biden can step aside as a candidate. He can't step aside as a campaign issue.
The Democrats have known at least since Robert Hur's report that Biden was declining cognitively. They closed ranks around him immediately after. They chose to keep a senile Biden on the ticket and not call for him to stand down.
Whomever the Democrats might put in Biden's place will have to explain their participation in this grand political fraud. Good luck with that.
