The part that amazes me is that lawyers of all people should know better than to handle reimbursements of ANY kind in cash with no paper trail.

That paper trail is what protects both parties to the transaction from claims of fraud and other improprieties. I was an accountant before moving into IT, and accountants are educated on pretty much the same points.

Lawyers in good standing with their state bar association cannot possibly believe that the way Willis and Wade handled their joint vacation getaways was acceptable at any professional or ethical level.

I think that demonstrates their extreme self-righteousness, arrogance and contempt for anyone who challenges their position. They have fallen into a honey trap of their own making, because they are the law they believe they are above it.

If they truly believe they are the law then they need to get a refund on their legal training. Don't think that nonsense is a part of the typical law school curriculum.

Absolutely - it's a fine example of where ego and doctrine trump (small T!!) professionalism and training.

Absolutely - my small law office has several clients accounts to keep funds segregated and accounted for - very basic stuff.
