I currently practice law in Maine - if a fraction of their illicit conduct occurred here they would disbarred - not disqualified.

The part that amazes me is that lawyers of all people should know better than to handle reimbursements of ANY kind in cash with no paper trail.

That paper trail is what protects both parties to the transaction from claims of fraud and other improprieties. I was an accountant before moving into IT, and accountants are educated on pretty much the same points.

Lawyers in good standing with their state bar association cannot possibly believe that the way Willis and Wade handled their joint vacation getaways was acceptable at any professional or ethical level.

I think that demonstrates their extreme self-righteousness, arrogance and contempt for anyone who challenges their position. They have fallen into a honey trap of their own making, because they are the law they believe they are above it.

If they truly believe they are the law then they need to get a refund on their legal training. Don't think that nonsense is a part of the typical law school curriculum.

Absolutely - it's a fine example of where ego and doctrine trump (small T!!) professionalism and training.

Absolutely - my small law office has several clients accounts to keep funds segregated and accounted for - very basic stuff.

Many good points made, Peter. And the Washington Post called her behavioral “righteous indignation”? How about the righteous indignation of the taxpayers who have to fund arrogant, corrupt, self-entitled lawyers living large on the taxpayers’ dime? I hope this entire fiasco results in millions more votes for Trump, if for no other reason than it would be comeuppance to the Democrats behind all this.

You write and reason so well that I look forward to your every column, Magnificent Man - man of many superpowers. Or should I call you Brilliant Boy?

The white hairs in my beard make the "Man" appellation the better one to use! ;)

So far we have heard direct testimony about tax fraud and money laundering - if’s that not enough to “disqualify” the prosecutors it’s time to head for our bunkers - there is no hope.

Great summation. Don’t know how well that “angry black woman” barging in went over. Continents can be so tricky.

The whole thing makes me wonder if Georgia should consider bumping up its bar exam.

I'm no lawyer, but my understanding from the lawyers I've had as IT clients over the years is that neither lawyers nor witnesses just "barge in" to a judge's courtroom and act as if they own the place.

That courtroom is Judge McAfee's domain. From her performance in that courtroom I could not tell if Fani Willis knew that--and that's not a good look for any lawyer, much less a prosecutor.

Willis and Wade made themselves an issue in their own case. That's just bad lawyering. Even the MSNBC talking heads recognized the Wade and Willis clown show is not going to be allowed to continue.

Certainly it wasn’t the demeanor or decorum I would desire of my legal counselors.
