Their military is as fierce as any on the planet, but in general their people are more patient and docile than those of us in 'the States'.
I attended a Jefferson Airplane concert in Toronto back in the day. The few Americans in the audience were up on their feet and dancing in the aisles--participating in the music. The Canadians sat in their seats to be entertained. At one point, frustrated with the lack of energy from the audience, Grace Slick actually said "What is the matter with you people?"
