Pandemic policy and fear drove people to "push-button" shopping and trusting anyone on the news. I'm part of the "main street" contingent who shops locally and I get a pit in my stomach every time I go into a store, the prices (pet food!!!), the disarray, the cry for applications for help yet I know people trying to get jobs thru temp agencies and companies are pulling back on labour big time. People are in a virtual reality propped up by the quotes you referenced from the WH and federal agencies. Tick-tick-tick....
Yup, our city’s ‘woke’ newspaper (Minneapolis StarTribune) takes the full party line regarding Biden, yet this morning’s edition has a headline “Food shelf visits set record in 2022”. Doesn’t sound like much of an economic recovery to me...

It isn't a recovery at all, obviously.
And why should it--the broad swath of data we have shows that there has been no recovery, just more and more recession.
Tick...tick...tick indeed.
And even the corporate media is realizing that last month's jobs numbers were mostly baloney. That will be tomorrow's article! ;)
