Update: Apparently the woman whom the Ottawa Police brutally and senselessly trampled is alive but has a separated shoulder, according to the latest report from Ottawa.
Some in the Twitterverse have described her injury as just “a sore shoulder”. It is much worse than that. It will heal, but the police still have much to answer for.
Update: It may be the woman was not killed. The reports of her death have been walked back somewhat. That the mounted police needlessly trampled her is clearly shown by video footage at the scene.
The Ottawa Police killed a woman. They weren't trying to arrest her. They weren't defending Rideau Centre (the government buildings were never in any jeopardy from the Freedom Convoy).
Analogies aside, it's police brutality, pure and simple.
It's not how police are supposed to conduct either arrests or crowd control.
And there's no denying one truth: the violence was initiated by the police, not the truckers. Now that the line has been crossed, what will restrain the Freedom Convoy in the future?
The Mounties are not really experienced at crowd control, eh? Their gear is all shiny and the horses are used to parades and drills, not real people in the street.
While most Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border, they are not Americans. Many of their ancestors fled the violence of our Revolution and the Queen is still on their money. Their military is as fierce as any on the planet, but in general their people are more patient and docile than those of us in 'the States'.
I attended a Jefferson Airplane concert in Toronto back in the day. The few Americans in the audience were up on their feet and dancing in the aisles--participating in the music. The Canadians sat in their seats to be entertained. At one point, frustrated with the lack of energy from the audience, Grace Slick actually said "What is the matter with you people?"
The mounted police should be tried for murder, and their commander with them. The foot should be terminated from the police force, or tried for assault if they can be identified for specific actions (but of course no badge numbers).
The woman appears not to have died, but credit for that goes to God, not the police. The police DID trample the woman and it would have taken only one errant hoof for my original post to be completely accurate.
There's video footage of other acts of police brutality as well.
Do you have confirmation on this? I am monitoring a livestream right now and they are saying the death isn't confirmed yet and cautioning not to report it as fact yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFj9baC6PXA
"UPDATE: waiting further clarification but some of the people trampled seem to be ok, possibly one person taken to the hospital during the protests due to a heart attack as police were pushing back ... will continue to monitor the situation. This according to people on the ground" -- https://twitter.com/SaraCarterDC/status/1494877913065402368
More like Kent State than Tienanmen Square. Maybe Neil Young will write a song about it.

That is a distinct possibility.
Certainly the police forces -- municipal, provincial, and federal -- were completely unprepared for the Freedom Convoy.
And the truckers announced their intentions a week in advance.

The gathering American version is doomed to be violent. The FBI will see to that.
I pray that you are wrong.
I fear that you are right.
Amen.

It is absolutely unbelievable.
The mounted police should be tried for murder, and their commander with them. The foot should be terminated from the police force, or tried for assault if they can be identified for specific actions (but of course no badge numbers).

According to Sara Carter, the woman died.
I've followed her work for a few years. She is not known for getting her facts wrong.
Well, she might have jumped the gun on this...based on the latest on her Twitter feed...hoping she was indeed wrong.
